In Salvador the two major styles are Capoeira Angola and Capoeira Nacional.\u00a0 Both are tremendously strenuous and athletic, but Nacional\u00a0seems\u00a0a bit harder and combative.\u00a0 Capoeira\u00a0Angola is more graceful and some believe it has a gentler spiritual base.\u00a0 Comparing it to the better-known martial arts forms in the United States, it seems\u00a0more like the circularity and mindfulness of Aikido than the percussive striking of karate.<\/p>\n
